
CW Veterans Club – 12.09.2022 Board Meeting
Board meeting was held in the Savannah Room.
Present at meeting:
Amy, Fred, Kim, Paul, Robin, & Rosemarie Bower
Absent: Jay and Bill were not in attendance.
The coat drive held from November 1 through November 4 was a success. A lot of clothing and business attire were collected and distributed to several needy agencies. A new item requested was for CD's as well as clothing.
The board will have 4 openings come January 2023. Fred Bowmen, Paul Berger, Bill Edmonton, and Kim Koenig have reached their Board tenure. Fred is moving in April. The Board hates to see him go and wishes him good luck and happy fortune in his next endeavor. A need for Board nominations will be sent out to the general membership.
Rosemarie Bower, has been asked to take over as Board Secretary, and was in attendance.
Cresswind LL veteran's scholarship fund, for now, is increasing from 2k to 6k. John Devillez will be part of a selection board to give out two scholarships to approved candidates at UNG in Oakwood and one scholarship to the UNG campus at Dahlonega GA.
Board put together an operating budget for 2023. Using the expenses from 2022 and operating budget of $25k was approved
A fellow Cresswind neighbor notified the board that they have a Mountain Home resort they are willing to donate as a 2023 fund Raiser.
HOA Board member Brian Olson is donating a leather Jacket as another fundraiser event. Brian received the jacket while working on the HBO miniseries "Band Of Brothers"
A topic was discussed about Needy Veterans. A good deal of our assistance is in the form of financial need. In a lot of cases the veteran has found themselves in bad situations based upon poor financial decisions on their Part. A question was raised as to whether Veterans Services has programs that help veterans in financial planning. The question was going to be posed to Rico Johnson at Veterans Services.
Food Drive was discussed. Since the DAV has lost their warehouse, It is no longer feasible to collect can goods from the neighborhood to give. A motion was made to provide monetary donations to programs like DAV, St Vincent DePaul, and Good News at Noon. Board approved a 500 dollar donation twice a year will be given starting in February.
The next Board meeting is January 13th at 10 am in the Savannah room.
The first General Meeting for 2023 will be January 24th at 4 pm in Ballroom.
