2023 General Membership Meeting

Cresswind At Lake Lanier Veterans Club
Minutes from the January 24, 2023, GENERAL Membership meeting

Board Members Present: Amy DeVillez, Robin Dickson, J.A. Swartz

Acting Secretary:  Rosemarie Bower

 

We had over 50 members present for our meeting. The meeting was called to order by Amy at 4:02 pm. She led us in the pledge of Allegiance. Dave Dittimer gave the prayer. Amy thanked outgoing members from the board. Amy thanked Rosemarie for providing the goodies for our meeting.

 

HELPING VETS:  Amy shared how we were able to help a homeless veteran with rent until February and getting him a bicycle. Amy is working with other organizations to see if he can get more help.

Amy also shared of another homeless veteran that has just relocated to Gainesville. He has a car and a job. Our goal is to help with an apartment with other organizations only if he can take care of this his own. More information will follow to our members as we see what we can do to help.

 

PRESENTATION OF CHECKS: Kim Koenig (past treasurer) presented Jack Prentice from Good News at Noon Shelter and Ron Crow from the VFW Post 8452 each with a $500 check for their efforts in serving our Veterans at the food pantry. Ron Crow presented our club with a plaque of appreciation from the VFW post for our efforts in helping our Veterans here in Hall County.  

 

UPCOMING MOUNTAIN HOME RAFFLE: Rosemarie shared with members of our upcoming raffle for this home. Rick Johnson has donated seven days for the lucky winner to enjoy.  Tickets will be $5 for one ticket and $25 for three tickets. We will be selling  tickets at the clubhouse beginning Tuesday, Feb 7 – Friday, Feb 10 from 10 am - 2 pm. Drawing of the lucky winner will be Friday, February 10 at 4 p.m. Gene Bramblett is working on a poster. This raffle is open to all here at Cresswind.

NOMINATIONS:  Seeking to fill 4 positions. Amy nominated Rosemarie Bower and Denise Samples
From the floor: Paul Erickson and Henry Jackson volunteered. Unanimous vote in selecting all 4 to the duties of the Veterans Club Board. Amy thanked and congratulated all four folks in their willingness to serve.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Kim shared that the balance from our last general membership meeting was $50,521.72. Expenses from that time were $10,778.89. Deposits from that time were $14,615.00. This gives us a balance of $54,357.83.  

 

UNG SCHOLARSHIPS: John DeVillez shared about the scholarship program and that they had 12 possible candidates. More information as we are told who received the scholarship(s).

 

OTHER: Mary George spoke about HELPING HALL (A Hall County Giving Circle)

Check out their site for when they will be meeting. This organization donated to us in 2022.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS: Raffle tickets, Habitat for Humanity, having a cookout, guest speakers, fall clothing drive, Veterans appreciation dinner.  Board will keep members informed of upcoming events.

 

We had four lucky winners who each received a $25 gift card.  Thank you to everyone who attended today.
