Minutes from the April 14, 2023, monthly meeting

Members Present:
Amy DeVillez, J.A. Swartz, Rosemarie Bower, Henry Jackson, Robin Dickson and Paul Erickson

Member Absent: Denise Samples

The meeting was called to order by Amy at 10:12 a.m.
​
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD: All set for tomorrow. 13 people have signed up.
​
NEXT GENERAL MEETING: Tuesday, April 18th at 5 p.m. We are all set. Folks have their assigned duties that will be there for the meeting.
​
Appreciation Day – August 1st: Amy stated that she would check with the cooking club to see if we could use their big grill for our hot dogs and hamburgers. See past notes on what we will be doing for this event. At this time, we will not be having a silent auction.
​
CASINO NIGHT: Amy has secured the whole clubhouse with Maggi for our casino night which will be held March 23, 2024. Plans are to have more casino tables. Amy will contact Paul Beiger about filing for the Casino with the Sheriff’s office.
​
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Tax (Form 990-N EZ) was filed on March 28, 2023, by Kim Koenig.
​
John DeVillez got $6K from NGHS for our scholarship program.
​
The Non-profit liability insurance was paid in full ($1,310) for April 2023 to April 2024.
​
The board approved giving $2,000 to GOOD NEWS and $500 to the VFW quarterly if our funds can support it or if there is another reason to change.
​
UNG Awards Ceremony: Amy and John DeVillez and Rosemarie attended this ceremony on March 30. Presented the award to PFC Justin Tamburo. He was very grateful for the money.
​
NAME TAGS: Amy showed the board a design that would have the Cresswind Veterans logo for us to use when we are out in the community for events and presentations of scholarships. The board approved for Amy to order 12 of these.
​
Stepping down: Paul Erickson will be stepping down as a member at large due to health issues.
The board thanked him for his service. We will be needing to seek a new member at large for our board.
​
Veterans in need: Had to turn 3 away. (no ID or not living in Hall County). Working to help one Vet in the next few days to have him stay at Haven Suites.
​
ROTC: Henry shared that there is a program at our local high school and a contact person. At this time, they will contact us (Henry) if the need arises.
​
BENCH: There is a Veterans bench by the clubhouse. Need to remind folks that it is there.
​
Next monthly meeting will be Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m. in the Savannah room. (no meeting in May).
​
