Cresswind At Lake Lanier Veterans Club

Minutes from the January 16, 2024, GENERAL Membership meeting
Board Members Present:
Amy DeVillez, Rosemarie Bower, Kandi Andrade, Kevin Pearson Robin Dickson, and Carl Lambrecht

The meeting was called to order by Amy at 4:02 p.m. All joined in the pledge of Allegiance and John DeVillez gave the prayer.

Welcomed and acknowledged all new members to our first quarterly meeting.

ELECT New Board Member: Amy nominated, and all members approved for JIM SNELL to be on our board. Welcome Jim!

PRESENTATION OF CHECKS: The board presented Jack Prentice from Good News at Noon Shelter with a check for $1,500, Ron Crow from the VFW Post 8452 with a $500 check, Brenda Key from Helping Hands of Hall County with a check for $1,000. Funds will be used to help our homeless and in need Veterans.

FINANCIAL REPORT: . Kandi reported that we had $81,395 in our account at the end of December 2023.
For the month of December, we helped 4 Veterans and their families totaling $5,678. This went towards rent, insurance, food and home repair.
For the month of January, we sent out checks for three (3) $3K scholarships. John DeVillez shared where they are going (two to UNG – Gainesville Veterans and one to UNG Dahlonega ROTC cadet).
We helped with rent assistance (security deposit & 1 st month rent) of $2100 to a Veteran in need.

VETERANS WALL: This has been approved by the HOA Board. The wall will be downstairs by the library.
Materials have been approved to not exceed $500.

CASINO NIGHT: Our big event is coming Saturday, March 23, 2024. Amy has set a goal of raising $25,000 for this event. She and her team are working on this amazing goal. Rosemarie encouraged folks to sign up to
help from selling wristbands to helping with the food. Sign up sheets will be available after the meeting for folks to see when and where they can help.

NEXT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING:
Will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the clubhouse ballroom.
We will have a guest speaker who specializes in VA pensions. This little-known benefit is for wartime Veterans and their survivors. (Time frame: WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War and the Gulf War).
There are some changes in these benefits that include spouse benefits. Any Veteran who served within this time frame and hasn’t filed any VA claim, Amy highly suggests that you and your spouse be there. Even if you have
already filed a claim, it is good information to have and to pass on to your friends, families and other Veterans.

Meeting Adjourned at 5:00 pm

Potluck to follow with sign ups.

We had 90+ members in attendance.

Respectfully submitted,
Rosemarie Bower, secretary
