Cresswind At Lake Lanier Veterans Club

Minutes from the January 12, 2024, monthly meeting

Members Present:
Amy DeVillez, Rosemarie Bower, Kandi Andrade, Kevin Pearson, Robin Dickson and Carl Lambrecht
Guest: Jim Snell

The meeting was called to order by Amy at 10:10 a.m.
We were pleased to have Jim Snell join us today. He is willing to become a board member. Amy will nominate him at our general meeting next Tuesday. Thank you, Jim, for your willingness to serve.

NEXT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Tuesday, January 16 th in the clubhouse ballroom at 4 p.m. Encouraging members to stay for a potluck after the meeting. All set on drinks, plates, etc.

CASINO NIGHT: Rosemarie will have sign up sheets for folks to help volunteer with selling the wristbands, food, and helping in the kitchen/servers. ALL volunteers will be given a badge to wear for the evening. Volunteers who do not plan on playing at any of the casino tables, do not need to buy the wristbands, they would need to buy the wristbands if only they plan to play. Amy already has her list of guys who will be taking care of the bar upstairs. We will have 5 college students
who will help with serving. Robin will provide a drawing of where the tables will be as we get closer to our event. There will be 21 tables. We will be using the 2nd and 3rd floors. Amy and Carl are working on the Silent Auction items. We will have 310 wristbands to sell. We will have 30 wristbands that will be held for
our VIP guests. Wristbands will be $30 each and our 50/50 drawing will be $10 for 1 ticket or $25 for 3.
Amy has set a goal of $25K for our fundraiser. As of this date we have $6,750.

FINANCIAL REPORT: We have a balance over $81,000 as of December 2023. The board agreed to give
Good News at Noon $1,500, VFW Post 8452 $500 and Helping Hands $1,000 at our nest general membership meeting. The board approved Kandi to contact a CPA to help with the filing of taxes.

VETERANS IN NEED: Rico John from the VA and the VFW are doing an event on 1/31/2024 at Budgetel to reach out to the homeless and provide food. He was wondering if we would like to participate. The board at this time declined. We will let Rico make decisions on Veterans who we might be able to help.

VETERANS WEBSITE – John DeVillez will now be overseeing our website. In December 80% of the viewing came from other search engines – google and bing. Besides our folks at Cresswind we have folks that are checking us out.

WATERFALL: compliments about our articles. Thank you, Amy, for doing this.

VETERANS WALL: The board approved $450 (not to exceed $500) to be used for plaques, shelving, etc. The HOA approved the wall last year. Amy is overseeing this project.
Next monthly meeting: Friday, February 9th at 10 a.m. in the Savannah room.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Rosemarie Bower, secretary
