Cresswind At Lake Lanier Veterans Club
Minutes from the October 13, 2023, monthly meeting
Members Present:
Amy DeVillez, Rosemarie Bower, Kandi Andrade, Kevin Pearson and Robin Dickson
Members Absent: JA Swartz and Carl Lambrecht
The meeting was called to order by Amy at 10:00 a.m.
NEXT GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Tuesday, October 17th at 5 p.m. in the clubhouse ballroom. We will have pizza, cookies, and drinks. Joanie Taylor will be picking up the pizza from Little Caesar. John DeVillez will be picking up Don Burt. Don donated to the club earlier this year and will be presenting another check at the meeting. The board approved and will present gift card & checks (payable to landlord/sister’s name for rent) to a Veteran’s wife, VFW, Good News at Noon and Helping Hands of Hall County (food for a homeless camp).
We will be nominating Carl Lambrecht to the board.
FINANCIAL REPORT: We have a balance of $58,519.04.
COAT DRIVE: OCTOBER 23 – 26. Lead person will be Dave Dittmeier. The HOA approved three large boxes that will be in the clubhouse lobby.
Monday (23rd) – items to St. Vincent de Paul
Tuesday (24th) – items to Baptist Mission
Wednesday (25th) – items to Helping Hands of Hall County and Good News at Noon
Thursday (26th) – Local Chapter of Military Officers Associations (MOAA). They support and minister to veterans at the VA hospital in Atlanta.
CASINO NIGHT: Initial meeting for the advertisement and fundraiser team will be held November 6 at 10 a.m. The team consists of Amy & John DeVillez, Carl Lambrecht, Ernie Seymour, Gary Halperin and Gene Bramblett. The initial meeting for the Food Committee will be held November 7 at 10:30 a.m. This team consists of Amy, Rosemarie Bower, Angie McClure, Lois Ehlers, Alice Bray and Deborah Ulam. We are looking forward to having 315 people at this event. The board approved raising the ticket price to $30.
VETERANS WALL: The HOA approved the wall. Amy will be meeting with Dave Dittmeier after the Coat Drive. Volunteers to help – Dave, Amy and Kevin
VETERANS IN NEED: Helping Jose Hernadez (Navy 2017-2022) with $1400 for past car payments.
Douglas Gilmer (Wife: Julie) – Army 2005-2019 with $1000 for rent and $300 gift card for groceries.
This family was referred to VFW to help with food and toiletries.
Amy had to turn three other Veterans down. Not all requirements met at this time.
Next monthly meeting: Friday, November 10th at 10 a.m. in the Savannah room.
